Although Nissan has been focusing its attention on the all-new, all-electric LEAF, the automaker hasn’t completely turned its back on hybrid propulsion.

Currently, Nissan’s only hybrid model is the Altima Hybrid and for 2011 this model, unfortunately, won’t be getting any particularly noteworthy updates. For 2011, it will still feature the same hybrid system licensed from Toyota, and sadly it will still be available only in a few select states. But, pretty soon that will all change.

New reports suggest that the 2012 Nissan Altima will be all-new, and the Altima Hybrid will also get a new hybrid system developed entirely in-house by Nissan. This is expected to be the same system that will find its way inside the upcoming Infiniti M35 Hybrid sedan.

Perhaps best of all, Nissan Altima Auburn WA dealers are looking forward to when the 2012 Altima Hybrid will be sold (finally) in all 50 states.
