The Nissan GT-R is nicknamed “Godzilla” in Japan for a simple reason – it’s a fire-breathing beast. The latest generation is the most likely to evoke fear in the hearts of lesser sports cars, thanks to its 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 which produces 485 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque.
But if the stock GT-R’s powerful engine and neck-snapping performance isn’t enough, how does 900 horsepower sound?
The folks at Switzer Performance must have asked that same question, which led them to create this highly-modified 900 hp GT-R that runs on ethanol. This “Cornzilla,” as Japopnik calls it, will reach 60 mph in under three seconds and top out at 220 mph.
“We didn’t want to just deliver a race-gas package that tethered the client to a fuel drum in his garage, but we wanted to be able to turn up the boost also,” Switzer wrote on the company’s blog. “E85 isn’t without its trade-offs. We had to modify the fuel system to handle the fuel and significantly increase the size of the injectors, also, but in the end we had a fuel that gave us everything we needed to crank up the boost on this car and deliver over 900 hp.”
Switzer’s E900 GT-R gets completely updated turbochargers, a larger intercooler, new brakes and suspension, and a new fuel management computer. All these mods to help to transform the GT-R from its rather demure factory specs.
But what might be even more impressive than its performance is that this GT-R’s ethanol fuel helps make it significantly greener too. According to Jalopnik, it still gets 20 miles per gallon.
