Nissan’s prowess as a passenger vehicle manufacturer is unquestionable, but the Japanese automaker has not held a reputation here in the US as a leader in commercial vehicle solutions. But soon Nissan will be aggressively moving into the same commercial vehicle territory that’s currently dominated by domestics.
With the NV2500 Concept, unveiled last year, Nissan made their commercial vehicle ambitions known. The NV2500 Concept is a van that not only offered the roominess and heavy-duty chassis necessary for a range of commercial applications, but the NV2500’s design was highly functional and boasted a number of creative features that were intended to improve productivity.
The production version of Nissan’s upcoming commercial van is likely going to be quite different than the NV2500 Concept, but it will still boast a distinctive design and unique versatility to compete directly with vehicles such as the Dodge Sprinter and all-new Ford Transit Connect, just to name a few.
Prior to its launch in November, Nissan is already working hard to prepare dealers for the launch of this new vehicle. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge for Nissan and its dealers is simply getting commercial buyers to consider a Nissan dealership when it comes time to buying or replacing a commercial vehicle.
With brand awareness being the biggest hurdle, Nissan reportedly will be launching an all-new commercial vehicle website in early February to stimulate interest and leads. The production version of the new commercial van will also make its North American debut March 10th at the NTEA Show in St. Louis to generate even more buzz for this all-new product. Digital advertising has already started as well, and dealers are also encouraged to get the word out on this new vehicle line through online and offline channels.
As this is a bold new direction for Nissan in the North American market, be sure to find more coverage of the upcoming production commercial van and other future Nissan commercial vehicles right here. Also check out some of the innovative features of NV2500 Concept from the 2009 NETA Show below.
