Nissan has made it clear that they intend to become more competitive in the light commercial vehicle segment. With consumer vehicle sales down, the move into the commercial segment may be a smart one for Nissan. As a result, Nissan launched the concept of the NV200 commercial vehicle, which gained plenty of attention. Now, Nissan officially introduces the production model of the NV200 which promises to offer loads of flexibility when it comes to cargo and passengers.

The Nissan NV200 offers three configurations, including a model for cargo only, a model for passengers and comfort only, and a model that combines cargo and people-carrying ability. For those who want a large family hauler, the NC200 can seat up to seven passengers. In the cargo van version, the NV200 offers 4.1 cu. meters of loading space, which Manchester CT Nissan claims is what makes it a competitive alternative to cargo vans from Chevrolet and Ford.

Riding on a modified version of Nissan’s B platform, New Haven Nissan dealers say the NV200 delivers utility with the comfort of a passenger car platform. Powering the van is a 106 horsepower four engine, or an 84 horsepower diesel. These engines are obviously geared toward the European market, as the NV200 will be offered there first. Philadelphia Nissan dealers expect different powertrain options when the vehicle becomes available here in the States.

In addition to the NV200’s cargo-carrying prowess, Nissan has also made sure that comfort isn’t sacrificed. Tacoma Nissan dealers feel that Nissan has paid attention to quality and fit and finishing so that the NV200 can truly appeal to demanding commercial vehicle consumers, as well as the average consumer that intends to use to the van as a family hauler. Although commercial vehicles aren’t in high demand among Fredericksburg Nissan dealers, they do cater to families that would certainly appreciate the versatility that this vehicle offers.

While it’s commercial ambitions are paramount, Nissan’s dual commercial/consumer objectives with the NV200 are evident when looking at the well appointed cabin. Buyer’s will have the option of a helpful rear view parking system, ample interior storage spaces and cubbies, and a range of safety features including ABS brakes, brake assist with electronic brake force distribution, and front and side air bags. All of which contribute to a well rounded vehicle, according to Boston Nissan, and not just a utilitarian workhorse.

The Nissan NV200 is intended to be a global model. Nissan has not been as aggressive in the light commercial truck segment, but with the NV200 is intends to hit the ground running in the global small van segment as it ramps up its commercial vehicle endeavors.
