New automotive technologies are being introduced regularly. Many of these technologies are designed to make driving easier and safer. Nissan is one such automaker that hopes to provide technology that can help predict and prevent a potential collision.
Combining the vehicle’s steering, navigation, engine, and braking systems, Nissan’s latest safety technology is going to be utilized tie these systems together to make smoother turns. Using what Nissan called an Intelligent Pedal, the vehicle sees a curve ahead using the data from the navigation system and moves the accelerator pedal upwards to notify the driver of what needs to be done. Additionally, the leader in Tacoma Nissans says the system will apply the brakes when needed, helping the driver focus more on steering the vehicle while turning.
Nissan is hoping this new technology will prevent accidents on curvy roads. With so much technology working in unison to steer, brake, and navigate the vehicle around corners, customers at Infiniti Parts Boston have realized that the system stops just short of taking the control of the car altogether. According to a Meriden CT Nissan dealer, Nissan is also introducing a new Active Stability Assist system that works with the Intelligent Pedal system to control the braking and torque applied to each individual wheel, helping to ensure smoother turning and braking.
The system is obviously quite complex, but it’s suggested that the next generation Infiniti M sedan will see a working version of it by early 2010.
