As sporty as the Nissan Rogue may be, you might think it would be out of place at Nissan’s recent 23rd International Z Car Convention, one of the world’s biggest celebrations of the iconic sports car that was originally born as the Datsun 240Z. But you might want to think again: That was exactly the showcase Nissan used to introduce the redesigned 2011 Rogue lineup.

“It seems appropriate to debut the new Rogue among this important gathering of Z enthusiasts, since Rogue shares many of the original Z’s core values—exciting styling, excellent value and a fun-to-drive spirit,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America. And whther you’re looking for the new Rogue, or the latest Z car, you can find them all at Nissan Dealer Bridgeport. “The Rogue S Krōm Edition, with its more aggressive styling, sport-tuned exhaust and 18-inch wheels and tires, also fits right in among the many unique and modified Z cars appearing at the convention.”

The refreshed Rogue shows a variety of both design and functionality enhancements, along with a new range of trim levels, all of which can be experienced at Nissan Virginia. For 2011, the vehicle is available in the standard S configuration, the high-content SV setup and the up-level, sports-oriented S Krōm trim.

It all starts with a revised exterior that highlights a new front fascia and grille, new front and rear spoilers, new front and rear tire deflectors, and sharp new chrome accents. Standard capability features across the Rogue lineup now include a 170-hp, 2.5-liter I4 engine mated to an advanced Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), which improves the vehicle’s EPA ratings to 22 mpg city/28 mpg highway for the front-wheel-drive models and 22/26 for all-wheel-drive Rogues. Crossover buyers are more concerned with fuel economy than buyers of traditional SUVs, Nissan Dealer Boston says.

The Rogue SV adds such features as a six-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, a rear-view camera, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system and Nissan Intelligent Key functionality, which allows drivers to unlock and start the Rogue while keeping its actual key in their pocket or purse. The S Krōm brings an injection of Nissan style, with a unique front grille and bumper, integrated fog lights, a unique rear fascia, a sport-tuned center-exit exhaust system, body-colored power outside mirrors, and bold 18-inch brilliant finish aluminum-alloy wheels.

And while the 2011 Rogue’s on-sale date was set for August 13—a Friday—the launch of Nissan’s striking crossover is only going to be bad luck for the competition.
